Sodium silicate, also known as sodium metasilicate, is an inorganic substance and its chemical formula is Na2SiO3. Its water solution, also called as soluble glass, is a colorless, turquoise or brown solid or viscous liquid. Sodium silicate is made by silica (quartz sand) and soda ash (or soil alkali) in the melting furnace through congruent melting and cooling. The coal, natural gas and coal gas are available for the fuel.
Its raw materials mainly include quartz sand and soda ash, which are mixed in an appropriate proportion to the reflection kiln. After the water quenching in the high-temperature calcination and melting furnace, it is packed to be solid sodium silicate. It is convenient for solid sodium silicate to transport and store. Under the certain temperature and pressure, the solid sodium silicate could be dissolved into liquid sodium silicate.
